Fannie B. Caldwell Talford, departed this life on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Carlyle Senior Care of Kingstree, South Carolina. Fannie was born in Summerton, South Carolina on April 13, 1941. She was the seventh of nine children to the late Nathan and Alfain Jones Caldwell.
Fannie was raised in the community of St. Paul, in the town of Summerton, South Carolina. She attended the schools in Clarendon County and graduated for Scott Branch High School in Summerton, S.C.
She moved to New York to make a better life for herself. While living in Brooklyn, NY, she met her soulmate Amzi Talford, affectionately called, ‘HAM’. They were joined in Holy matrimony on Fannie’s birthday, April 13, 1966. From this union they bore three children, Erik, David, and Francina. Several years later they adopted two boys, David and Joseph Liggins.
After living and working in New York for many years, Fannie and her husband decided to retire in Manning, South Carolina to be near other family members. She loved her family and her church, Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church. She was always willing to give a helping hand.
Fannie leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memories, four sons, Erik (Crystal) Talford of Brooklyn, NY, David (Stacy) Talford of the Bronx, NY, David Liggins of Las Vegas, Nev., and Joseph Liggins of St. Louis, Mo.; One sister, Rosalie Tolbert of New York, NY; One sister-in-law, Shirley Caldwell of Manning, SC; One brother-in-law, Roy Hampton of Brooklyn, NY; Seven grandchildren: Jordan, Justice, Brianna, Niah, Lauryn, Braylen and Blair and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
